In celebration of Black Awareness Day, Tereza rediscovers the legacy of artists, intellectuals, and activists who inspire us to challenge the vulnerable position reserved for Black people by structural racism. Black and female protagonism marks every stage of the collection, curated by Professor Cleide Aparecida Vitorino and featuring original illustrations by Mitti Mendonça. The embroideries were produced at the São Luís Women's Prison in Maranhão, where the majority of inmates are Black. Now, they can recognize themselves in the women honored by Tereza: Tereza de Benguela, Maria Firmina dos Reis, Alcione, Luísa Mahin, and Simone André Diniz.
